AETuts - Motion Tutorials
We’ve recently started a new weekly community project where we’ll be posting a video created by one of our wonderful readers, then ask you all to offer constructive feedback on the work. It’s a great way to learn more about video, express your viewpoint, and have your own content critiqued! Submit your own videos at the bottom.
Today’s quiz is gonna deal with some of those default, built in plug-ins we often take for granted. Again, If you have any questions you would think would be good for future quizzes, email them to ae@tutsplus.com. Get crackin’ after the jump and let us know how you do!
Nancy will show us how to create the title sequence for the Amazing Spider-Man entirely in After Effects using ShapeShifter AE. She shows us how to combine Shape Layers + Layer Masks to model and animate Spidey’s symbol. Download the free project file and follow along. You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to create!
So you made a video and need to render it in different languages… Don’t duplicate your compositions. This tutorial will show you an easy way to switch the language of the texts inside of your compositions with some basic expressions and a slider control.
In this tutorial I will show you how to create lines connected to 3D points using the Beam plug-in inside of After Effects. We start with tracking a shot inside AE using Cameratracker. Then we export that data to Cinema 4d to create 3D text. After that, we move back into AE where we composite our 3D text into our tracked footage and use expressions with Beam to create lines in 3D space.
This tutorial has two key educational values. First we will learn how to create a fuzzy furry ball with two sad eyes and a ton of emotional expression taking advantage of the rarely used CC Hair plug-in. Secondly, we’ll be using the very powerful iExpressions by Mamoworld. Using this tool we will create a very simple work flow for a flowing, natural looking animation.

In this tutorial we are going to create a clean and stylish Valentine’s Day greeting card. First we are going to create a nice reflective 3D heart inside Cinema 4d and then composite it in After Effects adding some nice final touches to make the final look really cool and stylish. If you don’t have Cinema 4d, I’ve included a render of the heart in the free download above.
